MANILA, Philippines --- President Benigno S. Aquino III arrived on Sunday afternoon from his successful first attendance in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland and announced that the Philippines will be preparing to host the global competitiveness summit in 2014.

In his arrival speech, Aquino said it was a good decision to attend the WEF, as it became an avenue to show the world that the Philippines is no longer the ''Sick Man of Asia,'' but a country ready to take on the world.
''Ang masasabi ko po: Hindi tayo napahiya; tunay nga pong tinitingala nila ang mga natamasa natin, at sa totoo lang po ay naramdaman ko ang pagkasabik nilang magpatuloy sa landas ng tamang pamamahala, dahil na rin sa ating mabuting halimbawa,'' Aquino said.Aquino had been among the keynote speakers at the Partnership Against Corruption Initiative (PACI) forum alongside with his counterparts from Mongolia, Peru and India, who also showcased the positive reforms in their own governments.
The President said WEF founder, Prof. Klaus Schwab, lauded the Philippines for its reforms and as a result, the Philippines is preparing to host the World Economic Forum in East Asia in 2014.
