Apl de Ap, Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, and Ms. Lea Salonga select the artists they want to mentor by listening to the aspirant's singing voice. Each coach must pick 12 artists for their respective teams who will advance to the next rounds of competition— the Battle Rounds and the Live Shows.

The competition just got tougher on the third live show of “The Voice of the Philippines” on Sunday, September 8.

The scores of coaches Lea Salonga, apl.de.ap, Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo have been combined with the votes from the public.
In addition, two contenders coming from the team of each coach faced off and sang for their right to stay in the competition.

Winners of last Sunday’s face-off were Morissette Amon from Team Sarah, Mitoy Yonting from Team Lea, Paolo Onesa from Team Bamboo and Thor Dulay from Team Apl.
Sarah excited to see Morisette ‘grow as an artist’
Morisette’s rendition of Heart’s “What about Love” earned a 60 percent rating from Sarah and 50.51 percent of public votes.

Morisette beat early favorite and former South Border member Maki Ricafort, who performed The Police’s “Every Breath You Take.”

“We all know how incredibly talented you are as a 16-year-old girl. Sobra akong excited na makita kita mag-grow as an artist,” Sarah told Morisette.
Lea gives props to Mitoy’s ‘halimaw’ voice
From Team Lea, Mitoy delivered a powerful rendition of  Eva Eugenio’s classic “Paano Kung Wala Ka Na.”  It earned a 60 percent score from Lea and 44.11 percent of public votes.

The band vocalist’s fellow contender Darryl Shy, on the other hand, performed Asin’s “Balita.”

It shows how well-rounded you are as a performer.”

Bamboo praises Paolo for staying humble
Team Bamboo’s Paolo Onesa bested early favorite Lee Grane, who did R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion.”
Paolo Onesa earned  a combined score of 141.24 percent by performing Adele’s “Skyfall.” Coach Bamboo gave him a 60 while the public voted with 81.24 percent.

“I’m so proud of you,” said Bamboo. “Yung growth mo ay lumalawak on how fast you are absorbing lahat ng nangyayari sa iyo. You also stay humble and that’s what I like about you. You sang that song beautifully just like how we wanted.”
apl sees Thor on world stage
Team apl’s Thor, another favorite, was the clear winner. His total score was 119.72—earning 55 from apl and 64.72 from the public.

Thor’s take on Stevie Wonder’s “Lately” beat teammate Penelope’s performance of the Carpenters’ “Superstar.”

“Alam ko sa puso mo na this is your last chance but nakikita ko na simula pa lang ito ng stardom mo. I see you worldwide sa mga big stages sa ibang  bansa. You did a great job,” apl told Thor.

That same evening, Lea performed with Grammy winner Patti Austin the latter’s hits “If I Believe” and “In My Life.”

  1. I think mas magaling si Darryl Shy that night, Mitoy has a big voice while Darryl sings from his heart that catches the heart of the viewers..
